Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for the new Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) building in Rohini, New Delhi. The new facility, costing ₹187 crore, will span 2.92 acres. It will blend traditional Ayurvedic practices with modern technology. The facility will focus on research, treatment, and skill development.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting Ayurveda and other traditional Indian medicine systems. He mentioned that India is now home to the first World Health Organization (WHO) institution dedicated to traditional medicine. Over the past decade, Ayurveda and AYUSH have expanded to over 100 countries. Modi also introduced the “Heal in India” mantra, alongside “Make in India,” and announced a special AYUSH visa to help foreign nationals access Ayurvedic treatments in India.
Union Minister Shri Prataprao Jadhav thanked the Prime Minister for his leadership. He said, “This facility will drive research and quality healthcare, making a lasting impact on millions.”
Shri Yogender Chandolia, MP from North West Delhi, also spoke at the event. He emphasized the importance of the new building and the benefits it would bring to Delhi’s residents. He thanked the Ministry of AYUSH and other officials for their ongoing efforts in advancing Ayurvedic research.
The new facility will include four main blocks: an Administrative Block, OPD Block, IPD Block, and a dedicated Treatment Block. It will also feature a 100-bed research hospital. Specialized clinics will focus on geriatrics, pediatrics, ENT, arthritis, preventive cardiology, and eye care. The facility will combine treatments like Panchakarma and Kshara Sutra with modern diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.

CARI, established in 1979, has pioneered Ayurvedic research, particularly in preventive cardiology and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The new campus will support cutting-edge clinical laboratories, physiotherapy units, and a library.
CARI is committed to quality and holds National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) and NABL accreditations. The Panchakarma Technician Training Course, affiliated with the Healthcare Sector Skill Council of India, will provide youth with valuable skills in Ayurveda.
This new facility will strengthen Central Ayurveda Research Institute’s position as a global leader in blending traditional and modern healthcare practices.
