Assignment: Write a 300-word niche statement explaining what type of health writer you want to become and why.

Evidence-Based Writing & Research Skills

Reading research papers, study designs, PubMed, citations, referencing and avoiding bias. Introduction to behaviour-change models including the Health Belief Model and Transtheoretical Model.

Assignment: Summarise a PubMed study for a general audience.

Wk 3

Health Literacy, Plain Language & Intercultural Writing

Plain-language principles, readability, cultural sensitivity for Indian audiences and application of behaviour-change theory to health communication.

Assignment: Rewrite a clinical guideline in plain language for patients.

SEO, Digital Health Writing & Tools

Keyword research, search-focused structure, E-E-A-T, Canva, readability tools and plagiarism checking.

Assignment: Write a 700-word SEO-focused health article with a supporting visual.

Wk 6

AI in Health Writing — Ethics & Workflows

Responsible AI prompting, hallucination safeguards, verification, disclosure standards and bias detection.

Assignment: Use AI as a writing aid, then independently verify and edit the content to evidence-based standards.

Medical Copywriting & Writing for Different Formats

Patient leaflets, email newsletters, social media, website copy and healthcare marketing content. Adapt tone, structure and format for different audiences.

Assignment: Write a patient leaflet and social media carousel on the same health topic.
