What inspired you to pursue a career in pharmacy, and how has your role evolved in the changing landscape of healthcare?
I was inspired by the innovation of new drugs in the field of healthcare. I am a pharmacist, and I want to develop new techniques and methods so that I can develop cheap and cost-effective medicine for country citizens. I want to establish excellent monitoring in the field of drugs.
How do you stay informed about new medications, drug interactions, and pharmaceutical advancements to ensure accurate and current information for patients?
I regularly read Pharma Times and recent research papers and continuously watch the official website of the regulatory authority. By using these methods, I informed the patient.
Can you discuss the importance of patient counselling in a pharmacy setting, particularly regarding medication adherence and potential side effects?
Patient counselling is a very important part of the healthcare system. Through patient counselling, patients get all the information they need about their disease and treatment. The pharmacist informs the patient about their medication and how long their treatment will continue. It also helps to achieve medication adherence.
How do you handle situations where a patient’s prescribed medication conflicts with their existing health conditions or other medications?
If a patient is having any problems taking medicine, we advise them to immediately stop that medicine. Then we analyse why ADR occurs, and if it is due to medicine, we immediately inform the pharmacovigilance centre and change the medicine for the patient.
In your experience, what role does community pharmacy play in promoting public health, and how do you contribute to this aspect of your practice?
Community pharmacists play an important role in eradicating disease in patients. They also conduct counselling sessions for better treatment results. They also conduct some awareness programmes about how to maintain good health. They dispense medicine properly.
How do you approach patients seeking over-the-counter medications, and what strategies do you use to ensure their safe and effective use?
I ensure that patients who are taking OTC drugs don’t take them for long periods of time. Patients can get advice on OTC drugs from pharmacists.
How do you manage the balance between the business aspects of a pharmacy and ensuring the highest standard of patient care and safety?
Pharmacy professionals have to ensure that patients get the best medicine at the lowest price. They have to take responsibility for the safety and efficacy of patients during patient counselling sessions.
In the context of evolving technologies, how do you see the role of pharmacists changing in the future, especially in terms of patient engagement and education?
In the future, pharmacists will play a pivotal role in the health care infrastructure by providing personalised medicine and developing controlled-release formulations.
What initiatives or services do you believe pharmacies can introduce to further support community health and well-being?
Regular patient counselling and health awareness programmes so that people follow a good lifestyle.
